Information Catalyst at Big Data World 2018, March 2018
From March the 21-22, 2018 ICE attended, with an exhibition booth, the London Technology Show within the Big Data World Expo section. Its slogan is “Every emerging technology. One digital transformation Journey” and includes expo’s on: Cloud Expo Europe, Cloud Security Expo, Big Data World, Smart IOT, Data Center World. Obviously also of particular relevance was the cross over with IOT and Cloud. The location was the London eXcel space within London’s Docklands/Canary Wharf.
The show generally attracts over 20000 (business orientated) and the organisers advertised 5000 of these would have an interest in the Big Data Expo and that overall 90% were from the UK with the rest from elsewhere Europe. There were around 200-250 exhibitors and 20 theaters.
Whilst many elements RED-Alert project are still in the initial developing phase, ICE was promoting RED-Alert along the lines of other projects focusing on raising awareness and making contacts as well as expressing the ideas it was working on. ICE’s task within RED-Alert were well received. There was also interest in the project in general as well as H2020 programmes, both of these were new to much of this commercial audience.
As with Big Data World ICE showcased its FischerTechnik model factory which is from where ICE is getting data for the development of the CEP in the meantime that the project is able to provide good sample processed data. This ‘attraction’ ensured (again) a very investigative and attracted audience and an engaging stand demoing Industry 4.0, and other Factories of the Future EU projects, eg vf-OS and Digicor. Boys like toys and at a technology event the factory works well!
